Vol.25 25AW Threads from Prato

Updated: 7 days ago

Late October.

That first breath of cold air at the door in the early morning — the kind that almost turns white.

And yet, by midday, the sun still lingers, and I find myself standing before the closet, asking,

“Isn’t it too early for a coat?”

At this in-between moment of the season, DOMELLE’s answer is mohair — from Faliero Sarti.

From the workshops of Prato

In Tuscany, Italy, lies the city of Prato — a place that has flourished on textiles since the Middle Ages, where the world’s top maisons still come seeking “the finest fabrics.”

It was here, in 1949, that Faliero Sarti was founded — a family-run mill that has spent more than seventy years in dialogue with yarn itself.

Its founder, Faliero, believed that “fabric is the heart of clothing.” Every strand was treated with that conviction, with no compromise allowed.

Today, the same spirit endures.

Their classic craftsmanship evolves through quiet innovation, earning the trust of couture houses around the world.

Many know Sarti for its scarves — those pieces that can change a person’s mood with a single wrap — yet long before that, the house was already a beloved supplier of extraordinary fabrics to the ateliers of Europe.

In their workshop, artisans touch the yarn lightly between their fingers, sensing the slightest irregularity.

Their measure is simple: “Would I give this to my own family?”

Bathed in the afternoon light, the mohair fibers rise and shimmer in the air — like tiny golden dust. It’s almost impossible not to call it magic.

From this workshop came the fabric that defines this season: a loop tweed of 58% mohair and 42% wool, woven from 16-micron mohair yarn — as fine as cashmere, yet with a luminous density that gives it the volume of fur.

That tension — softness and structure, air and weight — makes it dangerously touchable.

Those who know the name Faliero Sarti may think of the “magic of the scarf,”

but we’ve extended that magic into a garment.

MOHAIR LOOP COAT

A generous tailored collar, technical darts at the back.

From the front it’s poised; from behind it curves softly — a play of balance that gives the coat its quiet allure.

It looks substantial, yet it’s astonishingly light, as if air itself were woven in.

Warmth gathers gently inside, adjusting naturally to the temperature between train and street.

There are moments when you could swear the fabric is breathing.

For morning commutes: layer it over a turtleneck for both composure and ease.

A glance in the elevator mirror feels just a little more confident.

For afternoons in the city: the loops catch the light and draw attention without trying.

A friend will almost certainly ask, “Where did you find that coat?”

Its short length moves freely as you get into the car — every gesture neat, posture quietly straightened.

And by night, under streetlights, the looped surface reflects subtle shadows, creating its own silent drama.

If Faliero Sarti’s scarf can transform the face, this coat completes the entire day —

a new kind of modern dress code.

MOHAIR LOOP DRESS

The same mohair loop, cut into a cocoon silhouette.

Front and back are sculpted differently — clean lines in front, soft volume behind.

That duality lets the wearer shift her mood as easily as turning her body.

I remember the evening I wore it to dinner after work — the moment I took off my coat, the air seemed to change. The loops caught the light and traced shadows, making an ordinary night quietly special.

By day, pair it with boots for a relaxed modern mood — the kind that whispers, “Today I’ll walk a little taller.”

Add jewelry and it transforms instantly for evening.

Not too formal, yet effortlessly elegant — a dress free from codes, alive with its own sense of occasion.

If Faliero Sarti’s scarf grants freedom with a single wrap, this dress offers liberation in one piece.

Epilogue

Threads spun in Prato, tailored in Japan, now weave through the days of women living in the present. Here lies the meeting of tradition and modernity, scarf and garment.

The MOHAIR LOOP COAT and DRESS are not made for warmth alone — they exist to elevate the spirit, to remind you of who you choose to be.

And every time you open your closet, perhaps you’ll smile and think,

“Maybe I’ll reach for that one today.”
