That unmistakable air at the end of summer.
The sun is still strong during the day, yet the evening breeze carries a hint of coolness—it may be the season when choosing what to wear feels the most difficult. And yet, it’s precisely that hesitation that makes dressing for autumn so enjoyable.
Today, we’re introducing six pieces that have captured our hearts for this moment in between. Each one is essential to telling the story of DOMELLE’s autumn.
Part 1 – A Dress That Completes Autumn in One Piece
MIXED FABRIC DRESS
“I don’t want to think about anything today.”
And yet, on mornings like that, there always seems to be someone to meet.
You don’t have the time—or the energy—to plan an outfit, but you still need to look put together. That’s when your hand naturally reaches for this docking dress, a piece that completes the look all on its own.
The top is crafted in Japan from tightly twisted cotton jersey. Through gas singeing and a mercerized finish, the surface gains a subtle sheen and a clean, refined appearance. Soft and flexible, yet with just the right firmness, it avoids being too casual like a T-shirt, while steering clear of the stiffness of a blouse. Even on mornings when you don’t feel like deciding, this balance is already built into the dress.
The skirt is made from polyester acetate memory taffeta. Light and buoyant, its balloon silhouette—suspended from the lining—sways gently with every step, creating a natural sense of volume. When it catches the light, its expression shifts, adding a quiet touch of glamour. At first glance it looks like a coordinated set, but in fact it’s a single piece. Technical in construction, yet astonishingly easy to wear once you slip it on—this delightful contradiction is the heart of its charm.
I was grateful for this dress the other day, when a sudden meeting was followed by dinner with friends. By day it looked sharp and composed; by night it became instantly more festive, all without changing a thing. That reliability, adapting so smoothly from one scene to the next, felt almost like having a personal assistant. And yes, the elastic waist made room for dessert after dinner—no hesitation, no regrets. It’s also a perfect travel companion: easy to hand-wash in a hotel sink, quick to dry, and compact enough to tuck into a suitcase without fuss.
Effortless yet radiant. On days when you want to lift yourself just a little higher than usual, it brings a sense of ease while adding a touch of the extraordinary. Even waiting quietly in the closet, it seems to whisper, “Don’t worry—I’ll be there when you need me.” A truly dependable dress for the season.
REDA TWILL DRESS
This dress, crafted from luxurious wool twill by Italy’s REDA, embodies classical elegance itself. The moment you put it on, your posture straightens—yet it never feels stiff, instead blending gracefully into everyday life.
REDA is a venerable worsted mill with more than 150 years of history, and the first in the world to obtain B Corporation certification. Renowned for its sustainable and transparent production, the house produces fabrics whose luster and drape are unmistakable. The smoothness against the skin is enough to draw a sigh of admiration, and the instant you slip it on, you recognize its authenticity. It’s more than just a “beautiful dress”—it’s a garment that conveys trust.
The design takes the form of a sleeveless tent-line. Deep tucks from the shoulders to the back catch the light as they move, casting subtle shadows. The silhouette may be simple, but the way it shifts and changes with motion is possible only through this refined fabric and carefully considered construction. A wide self-belt, one of this season’s highlights, completes the look. Tied firmly, it sharpens the mood with urban precision; left off, it releases the fabric into airy lightness—as though you owned two dresses in one.
I chose the gray version for a friend’s wedding. Modest yet memorable, it blended seamlessly into the occasion, and when I later saw myself in the photos I couldn’t help but smile: “Not bad at all.” By day it carried the composure suited to a ceremony; by night, once the belt was removed, it swayed freely, and before I knew it I was matching steps with the music, the skirt fluttering around me. That ability to shift naturally within a single day is the result of REDA’s fabric and the subtlety of its minimalist design.
For those seeking something between “too formal” and “too casual,” this REDA dress will resonate. It won’t only wait in your closet for a special day—it will be the piece you instinctively reach for, even in everyday life, because it has become a trusted companion.
Part 2 – A Top with a Playful Spirit
STRIPE BLOUSE
Is a button-down shirt too serious? Not this blouse. It carries a sense of polish without stiffness, light and relaxed, a piece that works as easily for the office as it does off-duty.
The fabric is an original stripe woven in Japan. Fine cotton warp threads are combined with nylon weft, tightly woven to create depth no simple print could achieve. Depending on the angle of light, the stripes subtly shift in shade. Cotton softness and nylon resilience coexist, giving it both suppleness and crisp structure. A washed finish leaves it with a natural, easygoing texture—the dry hand feels close to the skin and comfortable, a quality you’ll appreciate across the seasons.
The silhouette is compact: the hem drops slightly toward the back, while darts add gentle roundness and dimension. Within the straight lines of the stripes, soft curves emerge, giving the blouse a quiet touch of femininity.
A removable bow tie adds freedom to the styling. Tied large, it draws attention with a dramatic flair; tied small, it hints at playful charm like a bow tie. Left off entirely, the stripes stand sharp and modern. Oh—there isn’t a photo of it without the tie, is there?
Well then, back to the point…
One blouse, three different faces—that is the new proposal this piece makes.
I wore it for a presentation the other day, the bow tie neatly tied. In the mirror I looked a little more poised, as if it lent me quiet confidence. On the way home, I slipped the tie off and felt the rush of release, catching my reflection in a window and nodding to myself: “I did well today.” With a jacket thrown on, it transitioned seamlessly into an impromptu dinner meeting. Serious or playful—this blouse accepts both. Having a piece like this at hand makes autumn feel lighter, more graceful, and more free.
SPANGLE RIB SWEATER
A sweater scattered with stars from the night sky itself. Slip it on, and it feels as if a small spell has been cast over the everyday.
The secret lies in the sequins—each just one millimeter across. They aren’t sewn onto the surface, but spun directly into a wool-blend yarn and knitted throughout. The result is a shimmer that is delicate and discreet, never garish. Touch it, and there’s no scratchiness—just a smooth, comfortable hand. On the inside, a stretch yarn creates a double layer so that what meets the skin is unexpectedly soft. With this kind of meticulous construction, sequins need not be reserved for “special occasions”—they can live easily in your everyday wardrobe.
The silhouette is a simple crew neck. A single tuck on the right side makes the hem fall asymmetrically, adding a subtle touch of modern edge. At first glance it seems basic, but look closely and you’ll notice it’s just a little different—that quiet sense of distinction brings out the wearer’s individuality. Easy to throw on like a sweatshirt, yet it still leaves you thinking, “Yes, I dressed up today.” That balance is the charm of this sweater.
I like layering it over a crisp white shirt, and once a colleague exclaimed, “Wait—that’s sequins?” It doesn’t glitter, it shimmers—kirakira rather than giragira. In the soft daylight through a window it twinkles discreetly, while under the glow of autumn streetlights it shines with quiet drama. Neither ever feels overdone, only as if I myself had become a little more special. That’s the power held in these tiny, one-millimeter sparks.
Every time I take it from the closet, it makes me think, “Maybe today will turn out a little better.” Like a small talisman, this sweater changes the air around you the moment you put it on—an unfailing companion at the gateway of autumn.
Part 3 – Styling Through Fabric
SILK JQ ORGANDY BLOUSE / SKIRT
The closer you look, the more surprising this fabric becomes.
Woven in Japan, it layers silk organdy with recycled wool polyester, structured in a block pattern and finished by cutting the floats to create texture. Under light, the blocks rise into relief, shifting in tone depending on the color of the layer worn beneath. The transformation is striking—almost like watching an art piece change before your eyes.
The blouse is constructed from large and small oval panels, joined only at the shoulders and part of the sides, allowing the fabric’s natural movement to remain intact. Each time it catches the breeze, the surface shifts subtly, as if responding to the body itself. Fine piping traces the edges, and when layered over an ivory inner piece, the black lines stand out in sharp contrast, adding a quiet tension to the look.
The skirt is cut with an ivory lining offset in length, giving depth to the sheer hem. With every step, layers of light unfold across the fabric. A rounded slit at the back allows the block motif to sway in rhythm, completing the fabric’s three-dimensional effect only when in motion.
One day I chose the blouse for a day of museum visits. In the galleries filled with natural light, the fabric seemed to converse with the artworks themselves, and I still remember a stranger asking me, “Where is that from?”
Yes—a stranger! That may have been the first time such a thing had ever happened to me. Later, when I wore the skirt alone with a black knit, a friend laughed, “It looks like you cut out a piece of the exhibition and wore it here.” With that bit of humor, I was reminded once again of the singular presence this fabric carries.
Of course, worn together as a set, it commands an overwhelming presence. By day it looks chic in the city; by night, under restaurant lighting, the blocks rise dramatically into relief. Pair the blouse with black wide-leg trousers or the skirt with a simple knit—each piece on its own can make everyday life feel just a little more extraordinary.
Even just hanging in the closet, it stirs a thought: “I don’t really have plans today, but maybe I should go somewhere.” When the morning light filters through the blocks, it feels as if the fabric itself is calling you out.
The time you spend in it slowly colors everyday life with richness, each moment recorded like an exhibit in a museum. Simply looking at it lifts the spirit; putting it on begins a new story. That is the rare magic of this special set.
REDA TWILL JUMPSUIT
Finally, a jumpsuit that adds a playful twist to autumn dressing.
It carries both polish and ease at once—an essential piece for the grown-up wardrobe.
The fabric is wool twill from Italy’s REDA, a mill with over 150 years of history and the first in the world to earn B Corporation certification for its sustainable practices. Refined yet resilient, the cloth has a gentle sheen and a graceful drape. Supple but with backbone, it catches the light so that even the shadows appear beautiful. What might look like workwear at first transforms, once worn, into something closer to an urban uniform—that is the quiet power of this fabric.
At first glance, the design seems simple—like a band-collar shirt paired with wide-leg trousers. Yet once worn, the fabric moves with the body, naturally evoking a modern, mode-like presence. A slim belt allows you to adjust the waist and shift the silhouette at will. Some days you might roll up the sleeves for a relaxed feel; other days you might remove the belt and let it fall oversized. To enjoy so many expressions in a single garment—that is the privilege of a jumpsuit.
I chose this piece for a showroom setup day. Carrying ladders, moving fixtures, constantly in motion—and still, it was astonishingly comfortable. Yet the moment I sat down for a meeting with buyers, it looked perfectly proper. Truly, a “working day’s ally.” Even as I worked up a sweat, the wool’s breathability kept me at ease, and knowing it can be worn across seasons (save for high summer) only adds to its reliability. I still remember wiping my forehead when someone remarked, “That outfit moves so well, and yet it looks so sharp.” I couldn’t help feeling quietly proud.
Even just hanging in the closet, it sparks the thought: “How should I wear it today?” On workdays it serves as a uniform; on weekends it becomes a companion for wandering the city. Casual and mode, workwear and elegance—it crosses those boundaries lightly, adding a touch of joy to everyday life. Simply owning it brings reassurance, and each time you put it on, it seems to say, “You’ll be fine today.” A reliable partner, through and through.
Expanding the Horizons of Autumn Style
Placed side by side, these six pieces each reveal a different face of autumn.
Some days call for a dress that completes the look; other days, a blouse that invites a touch of play.
There are days when you crave sparkle, and days when you want the quiet comfort of texture.
Autumn is the season when a single garment can shift your state of mind.
This year, thanks to these six, I feel I can even enjoy the question, “What should I wear today?”
